02 The professional side
A building is more
than its heating system.
My work centres on domestic surveying, heating and renewable technology. I look at the whole home: how it’s built, how it holds heat, the system that keeps it comfortable, and the people using it every day.
For me, improving a home starts with understanding what’s already there. Renewable technology has an important role to play, but it needs to suit the property, work alongside the building fabric and make sense in everyday use.
01Buildings & surveying
Every home has its own starting point. Its construction, layout, insulation and ventilation all influence how it performs and which improvements are practical.
Domestic surveying helps build that picture, identifying the existing conditions and constraints before decisions are made about heating or retrofit work.
02Heating & comfort
Good heating is about more than choosing a boiler or a heat pump. It means understanding how much heat a home needs, how that heat reaches each room, and how the system is controlled.
My focus is on the relationship between the building and its heating, with comfort, efficiency and straightforward everyday use in mind.
03Renewable technology
My specialism is renewable technology, with a particular interest in how it fits into existing homes. A heat pump, for example, needs to be considered alongside heat loss, radiators or underfloor heating, hot-water requirements and the space available.
I’m interested in practical improvements that work as part of the whole home, rather than treating a new piece of technology as the answer on its own.
03 A place I care about

more than coffee.
It is a little Japanese escape in Bury: somewhere to pick up a great drink, settle in with manga and take a proper break from the pace outside.
I am building it as a place with room for curiosity. A good shelf can introduce someone to a new story. A familiar table can become the place friends meet. The café matters because it gives those small moments somewhere to happen.
